Photography taken during 2001 in Angola during the last days of the civil war when Angola had the largest Internal refugee problem in the world. Angola suffered massive deforestation and loss of infrastructure during its wars of independence and civil war. Photographs taken in Kuito and the surrounding province.

Founded by two second-generation Dominicanas, NI AQUÍ, NI ALLÁ (NaNa) was initially imagined in 2009 and eventually created in early 2010.

Groana Melendez was born in Brooklyn and raised between Washington Heights and the Dominican Republic. She received a B.F.A in Art Photography from Syracuse University, and is currently living and working as a photographer in New York City. Nicole Vásquez was born in Manhattan and raised in the Bronx until the age of sixteen, later settling in Bergenfield, New Jersey. She received a B.A in Mass Communication from Lehman College of the City University of New York. When she's not hunched in front of her computer, she can be found experimenting with the latest DIY cosmetic recipe or working with city students of various age groups.
